What is a Mixture - Pure chemicals have only one ingredient; e.g., oxygen or acetone. Mixtures contain two or more different ingredients mixed together; e.g., paint or gasoline. See the Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet or contact your supplier for assistance.
NOTE: Report a chemical name only once on the report even if it is stored in several different locations at the facility. In the storage location portion of the chemical report you can list out each storage location.
Steps to Report a Mixture
Go to Step 3 of your report
Click Add Chemicals
Click on the link "Search by CAS/Chemical Name" Search for the Chemical name in the Master Lookup table. Select the chemical you are trying to add. Verify that the "Ingredient in Highest Concentration" and the "CAS Number" both match the SDS you have for the chemical.
Chemical, Mixture, or Product Name - Enter the chemical name, mixture name, product name or trade name of the substance listed on the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
NOTE: If the "Chemical Name", "CAS Number", or "Ingredient in Highest Concentration" do not match or are not listed, click on "Request Chemical Not Found in Lookup" to send a request to add the Chemical to the Lookup. You will need to upload the Safety Data Sheet and provide the Chemical Name and information for the chemical you are trying to add. You will get a notification saying your request will be reviewed.
Once you have selected your chemical, answer all the questions for the chemical. Fields with a Red Asterisk (*) are required fields. Some fields will be populated by selecting the chemical from the Chemical Lookup.
Upload your SDS
Answer the Chemical Fee Exemption questions. We recommend clicking the link in the upper right corner "Mark all As No", then read through each exemption and mark those applicable with "Yes". Then Click "Save".
Enter your storage quantities, and answer the Chemical Subject to Status questions.
Enter the storage location information for each location this chemical is stored at your facility. Save each location separately. Once all storage locations have been added, click "Save" at the bottom of the page. This will add this chemical to your Chemical List under Step 3.
Once you have added all your chemicals, and verified the information for each chemical in your Chemical list click on the link to Confirm your Safety Data Sheets are valid. This will clear Step 3, and should give you a green check mark.
